Thanks for visiting my site. I'm Jon Vasquez, and I was motivated to create this space by a great quote:
"You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems." - James Clear
This observation crisply encapsulates nearly all of my wins, failures, and interests, and this site is dedicated to sharing what I've learned and publicly exploring and experimenting with ideas. My hope is that I can help others with similar interests get to where they're going.
To give you a sense of who I am, here are some quick facts:
I'm an older millennial, born in San Francisco, to two Ecuadorian immigrants.
I'm a runner, photographer, and plant-predominant at-home cook, currently based in Chattanooga, TN.
I thrive on rigor and structure. I studied math and business in school and focus on Operations professionally.
Areas I'll be exploring:
I think about frameworks, systems, and tools that enable outsized outcomes with the least (but still appropriate) number of inputs. In the way a capsule wardrobe allows you to assemble several great outfits from a few choice pieces, I apply that approach to health, cooking, business, and personal finance.
In addition to spotlighting great ideas I come across, I'm also excited to put them into practice and share what works. If I've figured something out, I'll share it with you, and if I try something that doesn't work, I'll share that as well.
If you have any feedback to share, I'd love to hear from you. You can reach me at jon@fallingtosystems.com
